1857 Charles Preston Howard born

Charles Preston Howard, was born 19 August 1856 in Harford County, Maryland, but the exact location is not known (no birth records kept at the Maryland county level until after 1864). His father was John P Howard (1821-1871) and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Strong (1822-1905), both born in Maryland based on death information. here.

1890 Charles Howard & Laura Cozens Marry

Charles Howard and Laura Cozens (daughter of the late William D Cozens) were married 19 November 1890 in the chapel of the George W. South Memorial Protestant Episcopal Church of the Advocate Church at 18th and Diamond Sts, Philadelphia. The Rev WW Silvester was the officient. Their daughter Laura will be married in this same church some 29 years later in 1919.

1892-1904 Charles Howard Family Grows; Laura Dies

Elizabeth Cozens Howard is born 24 April 1892 at 1727 Monument Ave (sic) in Philadelphia. Her sister, Laura is born about two years later on 18 Nov 1897 at 2011 N 22nd St.

In 1900, Charles Howard's family is living at 644 N 55th St (near intersection of 55th St and Poplar St.) in Philadelphia; Charles is employed as a salesman in a department store.

Laura dies dies on November 18, 1904 at the residence 247 N Creighton St in Philadelphia. She is interred at Westminister Cemetery, 701 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA. She is in plot Lansdowne 168 there. Charles will also be interred there in 1913.

1905-1919 Bessy & Laura mature and marry; Charles passes away

Charles passes away on 1 Oct 1913 in Philadelphia; he was living at 1926 N Van Pelt St. He was buried at Westminster Cemetary, 701 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, on 4 Oct 1913.

Elizabeth (Bessy) and John Lewis Michel get married 8 Oct 1913, a few days after Charles' death. Their story is covered here.

It is unknown what happened to her sister Laura as she was only 16 at Charles' death. Perhaps she lived with Bessy and John or lived with another relative.

Six years after Charles' death, Laura marries Robert Henry Bearne on 26 April 1919 at 18th & Diamond Episcopal church.
