Samuel Y Fredrick was born at Conyngham, Luzerne County in Pennsylvania on 29 Jul 1863; son of Ernst and Elizabeth Fredrick. According to his 1926 obituary, "He came to Hazleton as a young man and embarked in the construction business, being one of this community's leading builders. Some years ago, he organized the SY Fredrick & Son", a building supply company.
The 1880 Census has SY's father as a shoemaker (born in Saxony, an area of Germany) and 16-year old SY's occupation is listed as carpenter. They reside at 243 W Diamond St in Hazleton.
1 Dec 1883 SY Fredrick and Emma Klinger marriage announcement is published and they marry.

In 1883, SY marries Emma Klinger. They have two children, Mabel (b. Sep 1884) and Charles C (b. Oct 1887).
After 34 years of marriage, Emma dies 20 Oct 1916; age 58 when the children are 32 and 29, respectively. No obituary or death certificate for Emma has been found.
On 16 November 1917, roughly one year after Emma's death, SY marries "Anna K Braun Michel at Philadelphia". The newspaper states "...his bride is a highly esteemed woman."
The couple go on a honeymoon 17 Nov through 19 Dec 1917.
SY was a Director of the First National Bank at Hazleton from at least 1917 to his death in 1926.

On Wednesday, 15 December 1926, roughly nine years after marrying Anna Michel, SY suffers a sudden stroke (cerebral hemorrhage) and dies.
Anna, now widowed, is presumed to continue to live at 45 W Diamond St until no later than 1930 as she marries again in 1930 in Philadelphia. Follow Anna's final journey on the Sees Family page.
