Nov '49 – John's father dies of a heart attack on 16 Nov. He died at home in Yorklyn, DE. John is four years old.
April '50 – Gladys (34 yrs) and John 2nd (4 yrs) are living at 206 E Grand St, Wilkes-Barre based on 1950 US Census. She was not working nor seeking employment based on the census record.
Mar '53 – John's mother, Gladys, marries Robert J Challenger. Their marriage license announcement appears in the newspaper on 5 Mar 1953.

Apr '66 – John is to wed Barbara Ruth Hehn of Sharon Hill, PA as announced in 22 Apr 1966 newspaper. They are both juniors at Penn State. They do not get married.
Nov '66 – John is engaged to Valerie Ehret. Her father, Joseph N Ehret, was elected mayor of Wall Township, NJ for a three-year term. They do not get married but seemingly have a son together, Jay P Ehret, who is raised by Valerie.
Nov '66 – John's mother, Gladys, in her third marriage, marries Atherton F. Clifford of Kingston on 5 Nov 1966 at the Nebo Baptist Church in Nanticoke, PA. John 3rd was an attendant at the ceremony. They will live at 380 Reynolds St, Kingston, PA. In May of 1970, Gladys is now a member of the Craftsmen's Club in Wilkes-Barre and Nanticoke (perhaps same group?). Atherton would retire from Nabisco as a salesman.
May '67 – Barbara Ruth Hehn graduates from Penn State.

May '68 – John graduates from Pennsylvania State University with a BA in History. His 1969 marriage announcement to Barbara Bastendorf stated he was doing graduate work in Chinese history at Penn State.
Jul '68 – Barbara Ruth Hehn, John's first finacée, marries Ronald Pregmon in Sharon Hill, PA. He is in the Air Force.
Dec '69 – John marries Barbara Ann Bastendorf of Lancaster, PA on 6 Dec 1969 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Lancaster, PA.
Mar '70 – John graduated from Penn State MA in history. He applied for a teaching job in Greater Nanticoke Area School District in March of 1970. His address was reported as 21 N. Chestnut St, Nanticoke, PA.
Sep '71 – John and Valerie (nee Ehret) Bolton have a daughter 3 Sep in Lakehurst, NJ.
Dec '73 – JLM 3rd lived at 210 W Kiefer Ave, Hazleton, PA.
Jan '91 – John's second step-father, Atherton Clifford, dies on 25 Jan 1991 in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was 75 years old.
Nov '92 – John writes a book "Collecting Yellow Ware" on antiques. He is an Assistant Executive Editor with Columbia University Press and lived in New York with Barbara, his wife. He is buried at Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover, PA in Luzerne County.
Jun 2004 – John's mother, Gladys Clifford, dies on 26 Jun 2004 in Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA; she was 88 years old. No death certificate has been discovered. John 3rd was said to be living in New York city as written in her obituary.
Feb '05 – John (59 y) passes away on 31 Jan 2005 after a brief illness. He was survived by Barbara, his wife.
